Locals were out and about enjoying St. Patrick’s Day at Dubh Linn Irish Brew Pub Sunday. Doors opened at 10 a.m. to kick off the all day St. Patrick’s Day festivities in a fun environment filled with plenty of Irish culture and history. Dubh Linn’s was voted a top St. Patrick’s Day event in the state this year. We have our own St. Patrick’s Day menu. We have hammerschlagen all day and we have music all day. Our corn beef and cabbage is really popular today,” Eliana Katoch, a supervisor from Dubh Linn’s said. The Irish pub also featured games, prizes, and bagpipers. The homemade traditional Irish food was popular among guests who spent their day at the Irish pub for the holiday, like Paula and Kent Matthews, who are loyal to celebrating the holiday at the pub. It was their third year celebrating at Dubh Linn’s. It was so neat because it was such an impromptu time the first time that we came. The music is great and the staff is always so nice,” Paula Matthews said. The service, environment, and detail to incorporating the Irish culture is what guests say they enjoy the most about the Irish pub's St. Patrick’s Day event. St. Patrick’s to me is a part of my heritage, I think it's important to celebrate your roots,” Brady McDonough, said. "The Twin Ports is an area that likes to celebrate and this is a great excuse to celebrate not only St. Patrick’s Day but the origins of a lot of us here in America. Brady was reliving his childhood by watching his uncle John O' Gacki perform traditional Irish ballads at Dubh Linn’s. He's performing a lot of the songs that I grew up listening to as a child so it’s fun to come out and see the whole community get to enjoy his performance,” McDonough said. I love the music, I love the story, it’s a great art form,” John O' Gacki said. It was John's third year performing at Dubh Linn's and he said St. Patrick's is especially his favorite time of the year to play his music to community members. It's a high point of the year absolutely, it’s great,” O’ Gacki, said. "People at 10 in the morning are in the mood to celebrate and they like to participate. People were hand clapping and singing along so it’s great, it makes it fun." WDIO story and video link:   ” - Alejandra Palacios
