John’s love for traditional Irish ballads that have grown into a list of over 200 traditional songs! Yet he has also writes original music, including Irish ballads and instrumentals for both guitar and piano.  

 He first wrote Irish-inspired music for piano, but began writing instrumentals for guitar after hearing and studying with with legendary Irish guitarist and songwriter John Doyle, for whom he personally performed his original instrumental “Bradoyle’s Jig.”  That instrumental is a tribute to both John Doyle and Paul Brady, who have had a big influence on his playing. In fact, “Bradoyle’s Jig” is featured on his Irish 2017 CD release “A Little Shamrock Music,” a collection of 18 Irish tunes.

John has also collaborated with Garrison Keillor setting two melodies to lyrics by Garrison Keillor for “A Prairie Home Companion’s New York St. Patrick’s Day Show” - “One Morning in May” and “Get Your Knickers On.”

 After his return from Dublin, John has begun working on another release of traditional Irish ballads - “A Little More Shamrock Music.”
